Translation Analytics & Insights Dashboard

Translation Analytics and Visibility

Understanding the state of your translations is essential for shipping confidently in multiple languages. Better i18n provides visibility into translation coverage, key counts, and project health through both the dashboard and the REST API.

Dashboard Overview

The Better i18n dashboard gives you a clear view of your project's translation status:

  • Coverage per language: See what percentage of keys are translated for each target language
  • Key counts per namespace: Understand how your translations are distributed across different parts of your app
  • Language management: View all configured languages and their translation progress

This is the fastest way to answer the question "are we ready to ship this language?" -- open the dashboard and check the coverage numbers.

Namespace Organization

Better i18n organizes translations into namespaces that mirror your application structure. The dashboard shows key counts broken down by namespace, so you can identify which areas of your app need the most translation work.

For example, you might see that your settings namespace is 100% translated in French but your onboarding namespace is only at 60%. This kind of visibility helps teams prioritize translation work where it matters most.

CLI Coverage Metrics

The sync command provides coverage metrics directly in your terminal:

better-i18n sync --summary

Output includes:

  • Local to Remote coverage: What percentage of your code's translation keys exist in Better i18n
  • Remote usage: What percentage of keys in Better i18n are actively used in your code

Use --format json to extract these metrics programmatically:

{
  "coverage": {
    "local": 59,
    "remote": 63
  },
  "comparison": {
    "missingCount": 473,
    "unusedCount": 386
  }
}

This is useful for tracking coverage trends over time in your own tooling or dashboards.

REST API Access

The REST API at dash.better-i18n.com/api provides programmatic access to your project data. You can query:

  • Project details and language configuration
  • Translation keys and their values across languages
  • Sync status and publish state

This means you can build custom reporting, integrate translation status into your team's existing dashboards, or automate workflows based on translation completeness.

Authentication uses Bearer tokens, and all standard CRUD operations on keys, languages, and projects are supported.

MCP for AI-Assisted Monitoring

If your team uses AI assistants (Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, Zed), the MCP integration lets you query translation status conversationally:

  • "How many keys are missing in French?"
  • "List all keys in the onboarding namespace"
  • "What is the publish status of the project?"

The MCP server exposes 11 tools including listKeys, getProject, getPendingChanges, and getSyncs -- giving AI assistants direct read access to your translation data.

Audit Logs

Every change in Better i18n is tracked in the audit log. This includes:

  • Key creation, updates, and deletions
  • Translation changes (who changed what, when)
  • Publish events
  • Language additions

The audit trail provides accountability and makes it easy to trace when and why a translation changed.

What We Do Not Offer

To set clear expectations:

  • No team performance metrics -- the dashboard does not track individual translator productivity, review times, or throughput
  • No quality trend analysis -- there are no historical charts showing translation quality scores over time
  • No staleness detection -- the system does not automatically flag translations that may be outdated after source text changes
  • No event streaming -- analytics data is available via the REST API and dashboard, not through real-time event streams or webhooks
  • No BI tool integrations -- there are no built-in connectors for Looker, Tableau, or similar tools (though you can build these using the REST API)

Getting Started

Your translation analytics are available immediately when you create a project:

  1. Add target languages in your project settings
  2. Import or create translation keys
  3. View coverage in the dashboard
  4. Use better-i18n sync --summary for CLI-based metrics
  5. Query the REST API for programmatic access

Create your account to get visibility into your project's translation health.
